Coming February 2012!

Here is an excerpt from our upcoming Newsletter:

If your children have attended a public high school or know other parents who have their children in the public school system, you probably know just how detached the faculty is from the students. Most of the students live in their own little worlds. They are just numbers as the teachers don't normally know several students by name. This can be discouraging to students especially if they are looking for a place where they belong or need one on one help from a teacher.

Your child attending a Christian school is definitely a good thing. The students have time with their friends and the faculty is always there for them. They are never too busy to talk with a student about an issue or problem they are dealing with. When your child attends Bethel Christian School , they will be a part of group activities and be involved with other students. They have the chance to participate in charity work that is made fun, exciting, and teaches responsibility.

The biggest benefit of all, and what BCS strives to do is make sure each student knows where they are in their walk with God. The teachers help them with problems that may be stunting their spiritual growth. BCS wants each student to grow in their relationship with Jesus and get much closer to Him.

2011 Annual Report

 Bethel Christian School

“God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord.”
          I Corinthians 1:9 (NKJV)

What a joy it is to be part of God’s purposes and plans! What comfort to be able to look back and now see how He was working in situations that we did not understand! One year ago, it appeared that Bethel Christian School (BCS) was facing a significant shortfall. At the end of the school year we celebrated God’s provision as we ended the year in the positive. The three factors God used was an excellent year in the daycare, increased giving, and expenses less than anticipated.

For more than a year the daycare and preschool has been faced with the wonderful problem of not having enough space. The preschool even came to the point of having to turn some four year olds away.   After much prayer and discussion the school board and the church voted to expand the four’s room by utilizing the “garage” space at the end of the daycare wing. The renovation is now complete, the teachers are thankful for the space, and we anticipate that the renovation will pay for itself.

Grade school enrollment has remained about the same over the last couple of years, currently sixty-five students. As part of rethinking the approach to growth the school underwent the process of rebranding. As a result, new insight was gained as to what families appreciate about Bethel as well as what the outsider perspective of BCS might be.  BCS has a new logo, a new tag line (“Creating Community Leaders in Christ”), a new drawing of the warrior mascot, and a new website. We are very grateful to Kristen Persun, Director of Development, and to Amanda Flick and Bob Wooler, of the Nonprofit Partnership.

Another step in the growth of BCS has been the strengthening of the school board. With the help of Bob Wooler, of the Nonprofit Partnership, the board has taken a second look at board governance, and has begun taking steps to grow in meeting efficiency and strategy. The 2011 board president, Tim Moreland, should be credited for his leadership in this process.

Another positive step for the school board was the changing of the constitution, with the approval of Bethel Baptist Church, to allow three board members from other fundamental Bible believing churches. This has given BCS greater freedom to seek out more godly, wise, and experienced leadership. For 2012 the school board is very excited to welcome Dr. Luke Pavkov, and Bob and Carol Neil.

In today’s economical and spiritual climate, maintaining a Christian School seems to be more difficult than ever. At the same time the need for Christian education has never been greater. No one understands these two facts more than our dedicated staff and faculty. Their acceptance of more responsibility and willingness to put in whatever time it takes for our students make this team the school’s greatest asset. Please pray with them that BCS might become a greater school of excellence, have an impact on more families, and truly create community leaders in Christ.

Respectfully Submitted,

Pastor David Miles
